Wellbeing

Welcome to Surviving the Hurts. This space is a journey through true stories, shared because life is sometimes chocolate and candy but sometimes it can be off brussel sprouts and this is the dish that people are the least likely to be talking about in a positive way, if they are talking about it at all. But just like remembering good times, the down times are remembered as well. Why? Because our brain is basically a camera recording everything only it doesn’t delete the ugly. It’s much easier to keep ourselves healthy and happy when things are going well, but when things aren’t going well, we can sometimes forget the basic necessities our body needs to function, like sleeping and eating. And for that reason, we need ways in which we can pick ourselves up. The label for this solution is Wellbeing. Wellbeing is exactly the word itself… looking after yourself well. There are many ways of taking care of our wellbeing physically, emotionally and mentally and these include, mediation, playing or listening to music, exercise, reading, cooking, gardening, going to the beach…

Research concludes that there is the need for wellbeing but the first step is actually recognising that our mind and body needs it, preferably before the signs are visible. This journey will present some challenges and discuss how the hurt was survived. Along the way, you might connect with some of the experiences and hopefully realise that there is always another season.

Mediation, journalling, painting, beach walks, play or listen to music.

Did you know that just by going to the beach, you activate your brain to release endorphines and other “feel good “ chemicals.
